What are Melasma and Hyperpigmentation?

Characterized by patches of brown or gray-brown skin on the cheeks, nose, forehead, chin and above the upper lip, Melasma can also appear on parts of the body that have frequent exposure to sunlight.

Hyperpigmentation is a similar condition, caused by an excess of melanin in the skin that creates darkened patches on the skin. While usually harmless, these conditions are highly visible and can be cosmetically unappealing.
