Hyun Soo Lee, M.D

Hyun-Soo Lee, M.D grew up in Korea and Flushing. He graduated from Yale University in 1983 and the State University of New York at Stony Brook, School of Medicine in 1990. He completed the internship in internal medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 1991 and the residency in dermatology at New York University School of Medicine in 1994. He stayed at New York University for a dermatopathology fellowship until 1995.

Dr. Lee is a Diplomate of American Board of Dermatology for Dermatology and American Board of Pathology for Dermatopathology. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology. He was a Clinical Assistant Professor of Dermatology at New York University School of Medicine. He is a member of the Adjunct Faculty of the Rockefeller University.


Diana K. Sun, M.D.

Diana Sun, MD grew up in Queens, New York.She attended the Bronx High School of Science.Dr. Diana Sun earned her undergraduate degree from the City University of New York at Queens College where she was awarded the Queens College Merit Scholarship (now known as the Macaulay Honors College) and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.

Dr. Diana Sun went on to the Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University to attain her medical degree. Passionate about having a comprehensive understanding of all medical aspects of the human body, she stayed on at Albert Einstein College to complete her residency in Internal Medicine. Immediately following, she went on to her dermatology training at the State University of New York at Stony Brook where she graduated as Chief Resident of Dermatology.

Dr. Diana Sun is a Diplomate of American Board of Dermatology and a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology. She is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Dermatology of the State University of New York at Stony Brook.

In addition to her passion for medical, holistic, and cosmetic dermatology, Dr. Diana Sun is actively involved in the medical and surgical training of dermatology residents at the State University of New York at Stony Brook each week. She was awarded Dermatology Professor of the Year at SUNY at Stony Brook. She continues to publish papers in the dermatology literature and annually presents clinical cases at the American Academy of Dermatology Gross and

 Microscopic Symposium with her residents intraining. Her most recent presentations at the AAD Symposia include Livedoid Vasculopathy Secondary to Homozygous Methylenetetrahydrofolate Reductase Deficiency, Mycobacterium Marinum Associated with Asian Fish Markets in NYC, An Unusual Presentation of Syphilis, Adult Onset Systemic Mastocytosis: A Diverse Clinical Entity .

Her most recent publication in the medical literature is Telmisartan induced lichen planus eruption manifested on vitiliginous skin, Cutis.

Dr. Sun focuses on not only the treatment of skin conditions, but also preventative care through a holistic, natural approach involving simple nutritional and lifestyle changes.


Stephanie Hu, M.D.

Dr. Hu is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Dermatology in the Department of Dermatology at Mount Sinai Hospital.  She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Stanford University, where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and graduated with Honors and Distinction, in addition to receiving the prestigious Howard Hughes Medical Institute Research Fellowship and the President’s Award for Academic Excellence.

She received her medical degree from Harvard Medical School and was awarded numerous grants and fellowships for medical research. During her time at Harvard, she was also the recipient of the American Medical Association Physicians of Tomorrow Award as well as their Leadership Award.

Dr. Hu completed her medical internship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York, caring for patients with a life-threatening illness and continuing to pursue her burgeoning interest in medical dermatology. She then went on to complete her dermatology residency at New York University in the Ronald O. Perelman Department of Dermatology. During her residency at NYU, Dr. Hu was awarded the Husik Prize for the best research paper, as well as the George Lipkin Prize, identified by the faculty as the resident who is an excellent clinician with scholarly interest and research productivity. Throughout her academic career, Dr. Hu has published over 20 academic papers and delivered even more presentations and lectures both regionally and nationally. She has served as author and editor of numerous textbooks within the field of dermatology. While Dr. Hu gained a comprehensive background in medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology, she elected to complete an extra year of fellowship training in Dermatopathology at NYU, which provides her with additional expertise to diagnose skin cancers and complex dermatologic conditions under the microscope.

Given her comprehensive training, Dr. Hu has cultivated special interests in adult and pediatric dermatology, as well as cosmetic dermatology and dermatopathology, all of which she currently practices at Metro Dermatology. She also trains and supervises dermatology residents at Mount Sinai Hospital. She is board certified by the American Board of Dermatology and is an active diplomate of the American Academy of Dermatology and American Society of Dermatopathology.


Charles C. Kwak, M.D.

Dr. Kwak grew up in Queens and attended Hunter College High School. He earned his undergraduate degree from Harvard University and medical degree at SUNY Upstate Medical Center. Dr. Kwak completed his internal medicine internship at NYU Langone Hospital – Long Island, and his dermatology residency at SUNY Downstate Medical Center.

Dr. Kwak has broad experience treating a diverse patient population. Over the better part of two decades, he has been a board-certified practicing dermatologist in various clinical settings from private practice to resident teaching clinics to multi-specialty healthcare systems.

His passion is the integral role the skin plays in the health, homeostasis, and physical well-being of the individual, and his motivation is the diagnostic and therapeutic challenges posed by each patient.

Furthermore, Dr. Kwak has been a long-standing patient advocate for the underserved patient population within the community, including patients with developmental disabilities.

Dr. Kwak currently sees patients in our Elmhurst office from 8AM – 5PM Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. He also works those hours every 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month. On every 2nd and 4th Saturday he works from 9AM – 1PM.


Carey Kim, M.D.

Dr. Carey Kim was born and raised in New York City, where he currently serves as a board-certified dermatologist. He provides uncompromising and compassionate care with the highest standards to all his patients.

Dr. Kim received his Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Master of Science in Biophysics and Physiology from Stony Brook University. He earned his medical degree at New York Medical College and completed his internal medicine internship at Mount Sinai Beth Israel. He subsequently completed his dermatology residency at New York Medical College and a clinical research fellowship at Columbia University with specialty training in hair loss. Dr. Kim served as the cosmetic and laser chief during residency and was awarded scholarships through the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery, and was the recipient of the Rising Derm Star award. Dr. Kim is part of several honorary research and dermatology societies and continues to be active in educational and research work through his alumni institution and Mount Sinai Hospital.

Dr. Kim has published widely in leading national and international dermatological journals. His research is focused on pigmentary and autoimmune hair loss disorders, including melasma and scarring and non-scarring alopecias.


Hannah Hyeyoon Park, NP-C

Hannah Park is a board-certified nurse practitioner who graduated in 2015 from the College of Staten Island with a Masters of Science in Nursing. (Nurse Practitioner and Clinical Nurse Specialist). Hannah completed her dermatology rotation at the Brooklyn VA Hospital and received focused training from Dr. Hyun Soo Lee. Hannah joined Metro Dermatology in February 2011 as a registered nurse. She is skilled in treating acne, psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, keloids, warts, and alopecia. She is currently advancing her skills by performing cosmetic procedures such as dermal fillers, Botox, Ulthera®, Thermage®, PRP, micro-needling, and various laser treatments.


Stacy Li, PA-C

Stacy Li graduated from the Physician Assistant program at St. John’s University in 2012. She completed both her dermatology rotation and post-graduate training at Metro Dermatology under Diana Sun, MD, and Hyun-Soo Lee, MD. She is a Diplomate Fellow of the Society of Dermatology PAs. Stacy specializes in medical and cosmetic dermatology with special interests in skin care and rejuvenation through use of toxins, thread lifts, and lasers.


Yu Jin Kim, PA-C

Yu Jiin Kim graduated from the Physician Assistant program at St. John’s University in 2013. She was trained by Dr. Sun and Dr. Lee during her clinical rotation and after graduation. She is currently taking classes through the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health to further her understanding of medicine and patient care.


Samantha Hussain, PA-C

Samantha graduated from Pace University’s Lenox Hill Hospital Physician Assistant Program in August 2019 with a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies. She joined Metro Dermatology in November 2019, based at the Elmhurst office. She is a member of the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants and is completing her SDPA Diplomate Fellowship. Samantha always strives to provide quality patient-centered care. She tailors her treatment plans to fit each patient’s needs and preferred outcome best. More specifically, in dermatology, she finds it rewarding to treat acne and psoriasis because she understands the psychological impact of these disorders.


Sujin Kim, PA-C

Sujin Kim is a board-certified Physician Assistant who Graduated college with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Barnard College in New York City in 2013. She received her Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies from Cornell University in 2019. After Sujin joined Metro Dermatology in 2020. She mainly works in the Fort Lee and Flushing offices.


David Shin, PA-C

David Shin graduated with a Master of Science from Pace University’s Physician Assistant program in 2021. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Rochester with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry in 2013. He has received post-graduate training at Metro Dermatology under Hyun-Soo Lee, MD and Yu Jin Kim, PA. He works solely at the Fort Lee location.


Curtis Chen, PA-C

Physician Assistant

Curtis graduated from Stony Brook University’s PA program with honors and is the recipient of numerous scholarships. He was also inducted into the prestigious Pi Alpha National Honor Society for outstanding academic achievement, public service, and leadership. He received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in medical sciences from the University of Miami, where he was a Wound and Research Fellow within the Robert Frost Department of Dermatology. He also had the excellent opportunity to learn and participate in skin cancer research at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. He co-authored several papers with world-renowned physician-scientists. Curtis is passionate about caring for dermatology patients and skillfully utilizes his dermoscopy and surgical techniques to diagnose and treat skin cancers. He speaks English, Spanish, Taiwanese, and Mandarin Chinese fluently. Curtis currently serves as a New York State Trooper Surgeon and continues to support his fellow police, fire, and EMS brothers and sisters.


Angelina Mamanova, PA-C

Angelina Mamanova has been a certified registered physician assistant in the state of New York since 2014. She is a graduate of St. John’s University with a Bachelor of Physician Assistant degree. With eight years of work experience in urgent care and family medicine in New York City, she brings a wealth of expertise to her profession. Angelina is also a proud member of the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants and holds certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). In addition, she is an active member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA). Fluent in both Russian and English, Angelina is also proficient in medical Spanish.

Her primary working location at Metrodermatology will be in the Bronx Concourse.


Sophy Yu, PA-C

Sophy Yu is a board-certified Physician Assistant born and raised in Seattle, Washington. She graduated from the University of Washington’s MEDEX Northwest Physician Assistant Program with a Master in Clinical Health Services in 2022 and completed her dermatology rotation in Wenatchee, Washington. She obtained her undergraduate degree at the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and minor in Human Rights. Sophy empathizes with the psychological impact of many skin conditions and therefore prioritizes compassionate, patient-centered care. She has an extensive history in working with underserved and minority populations, and is proficient in both Chinese and English.

 


Chohee Park, FNP-BC

Chohee Park is an ANCC board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner. She is an Adelphi University graduate with honors in Bachelor of Science in Nursing and contributed 6 years at Mount Sinai Hospital as a Registered Nurse. She obtained her Master of Science in Nursing from Long Island University becoming a Family Nurse Practitioner in 2022. With a specialized focus on Medical and Cosmetic Dermatology, Chohee expertly tailors treatments to address individual needs and is proficient in both English and Korean.
