Answering Your Juvederm Questions

As people age, thinning of the face and loss of “baby fat” can cause lines and wrinkles to stand out.  Juvederm® is a highly popular injectable filler used to correct signs of aging.  The collection of fillers targets various aesthetic concerns of the face in areas like the cheeks, mouth lines, and the lips. The fillers use hyaluronic acid, a substance that naturally occurs in the skin.  One of the major benefits of the treatment is that the results can last for months to a year. At Metro Dermatology, we regularly get questions about Juvederm®.

What is Juvederm®?

Juvederm® is a dermal filler.  Rather than using a harsh chemical, the treatment uses a naturally-occurring substance called hyaluronic acid to reduce fine lines and wrinkles as well as restore facial fullness.

Can I Benefit from the Treatment?

If you would like to temporarily control and reverse aesthetic concerns caused by aging such as lines, wrinkles, recessed scars, thin lips, or a loss of cheek fullness, Juvederm® may benefit you. That said, some people may not be good candidates for the treatment.

Ideally, you will be in good physical health and have realistic goals.  However, the best way to determine your candidacy and possible results is to consult with one of our experts.

Is Juvederm® Permanent?

Permanent dermal fillers are not always the best idea.  You have to consider what will happen if you dislike your results or decide to have additional treatments or procedures.  Fortunately, Juvederm® is not a permanent treatment and is eventually broken down and dissolved via your body’s natural processes.

How Long Will My Results Last?

The number of months your results will last is difficult to determine.  The longevity of your results depends on a number of factors.

How Soon Will I See Results?

You will be able to see results immediately following the treatment.  However, your final results will reveal themselves in the days and weeks following your treatment as the product settles into the skin.
